Globoversity Brings Live Skillshares To A Global Community of Digital Nomads

Olumide Gbenro, an entrepreneur based in Bali, Indonesia today announced Globoversity, a live learning, and skillshare community for digital nomads.

Olumide has been traveling as an online entrepreneur since 2016 and saw a need in the fast-growing community of remote workers and location independent entrepreneurs to centralize education.

“When I was traveling the world I realized there was no central online hub for digital nomads, no place we could call home. I met people from Germany, South Africa, England working from their laptops doing all sorts of amazing work, things that made me curious to learn from them to help my businessbut there was no platform where we could all connect and exchange ideas, knowledge”

There are thousands of Facebook groups dedicated to digital nomads, but Olumide saw a need to centralize the community and shared the reason why he believes it will make it easier to connect. He says  “our communities are fractured, we’ve got Facebook groups, and WhatsApp groups, Telegram groups. It’s becoming increasingly noisy in the world of social media to find the information and education that we need to continue to grow”

Olumide is a Nigerian-American born in Lagos and raised in the United Kingdom before immigrating to the United States in his early teens. He didn’t have access to life-changing business mentors growing up which is one of the reasons he made the platform free. “We want online learning to be accessible to everyone, regardless of where you’re from, what socio-economic status, as long as you have an internet connection, you can become a member of Globoversity”

The world of online education is competitive, with companies like Mindvalley, and Masterclass leading the way but Olumide believes Globoversity brings a unique element of having live skillshares. Every single session on Globoversity is live, which he believes makes more impact than previously recorded videos.

“The difference between us and most of our competitors is we value live sessions. During our beta tests and prior virtual summits, we have seen increased engagement and impact through one on one and one on many interactions. People tend to take action and we still enable full replays available for premium members if they want to watch later.”

When asked what he sees in the future and how Globoversity can impact, Olumide shared:

“The vision is a real community, a place where you can log in from any time zone and be able to learn, and socialize during our live sessions. Right now we are meeting once a month, but one day I believe we’ll have skillshares every single day and people will be able to find topics that interest them and help them grow as individuals.”
